Strolling through a night market in Normandy
During the summer season, night markets are a real tradition ! It’s an opportunity to go for a walk with your family at the end of the day, among the stalls.
A stroll through the night markets in summer is a nice way to end a day’s holiday !
Local crafts, regional products or fancy trinkets, you can find everything !
What holiday souvenir will you choose ? Home-made products, decorative objects, funny trinkets, jewellery… and regional gourmet products : Norman cheeses, cider, desserts made from Normandy apples… fill up on local gifts to take home or to give to friends.
Also take advantage of the long summer evenings to enjoy an ice cream, warm chichis or a crispy waffle, facing the sea.
When do the night markets take place ?
Monday evenings from 2 July to 23 August – Rue de la Mer
In this pretty seaside resort on the Côte de Nacre, the night market is accompanied by either a concert or an open-air film screening in the Town Hall Park (parc de l’hôtel de ville). At the end of your tour of the stalls, let yourself be tempted by a tasting of Gui-Gui, a sweet speciality of the Côte de Nacre, wrapped around a stick, to be enjoyed facing the sea!
“ If you are in Luc-sur-mer on a Monday evening, after your stroll through the night market, go to the Hôtel de Ville park, otherwise known as the Parc de la Baleine. There you will discover the huge skeleton of a whale that washed up on the beach in 1885! Children will love the playground and the farm animals. And to end the evening on a high note, why not pop over to watch the sunset from the wooden pier at Luc-sur-mer. THE most Instagramable place in Terres de Nacre ! “
Tuesday evenings from 6 July to 31 August – Parc Pillier
In the pretty tree-lined Parc Pillier, a few craft stands are set up every Tuesday during the summer. The designers present their 100% local gift ideas. A few metres away, enjoy a long walk along the dyke of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer. Feeling hungry ? Sit down on one of the terraces of the sea view restaurants.
2 dates to remember: 24 July and 21 August – Market Place (Place du marché)
The local produce and craft market takes place once in July and once in August. Around the market place, small producers are proud to present their regional products made in Normandy as well as nice ideas for souvenirs.
